The theme for the 2013 conference was “Appellate Advocacy in the 21st Century – Bench and Bar Working Together to Achieve Justice Under the Law.” The centerpiece of the conference was an advocacy survey distributed electronically to Michigan Supreme Court justices, Michigan of Court of Appeals judges, Supreme Court and Court of Appeals staff, and practitioners, in which they expressed their advocacy preferences regarding virtually all aspects of briefing and oral argument.
